Turns out for the end user to fix this on their own machine, which its
inelegance would almost drive them to do, they have to literally modify
source code and recompile the applet. Seriously. For one boolean.
Anybody have any luck changing the boolean with ghex2 instead of going

It was intermittent and hasn't happened in a while. I'll keep my ear out for
it to happen again. I'm probably going to be switching to banshee as I move
to 9.10 though.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gimp

Correct behavior: menu is visible in top panel regardless of which GIMP
window is in focus.
Because not everyone uses a globalmenu, this may have to be a toggle added to
GIMP.
This is a requisite for
The /correct/ correct behavior would be for GIMP to handle dialogs like
Inkscape, but that's probably not going to happen very soon.

The bug seems to be that gnome sound recorder tries to use ALSA, but the
ALSA plugin for PulseAudio is broken.
Gnome sound recorder should use PulseAudio natively. Bad gstreamer sink
default in ubuntu.

It seemed like it was fixed for a while, and then re-appeared. I just
stopped recording sound; my sound card drivers make my mics so quiet
there's little point anyways, and it's been like that since 8.10..
I'm just kind of tired of filing bugs all the time I guess..

Ah, so gnome-sound-recorder can't be installed independently of

the package put on my system?
In any case, I'm installing debug packages for it now..
