Sam, if you read the upstream bug you will note that the feature is
controversal and the maintainer to use the trash for something else than
deleting because than can be confusing and make you destroy some datas if you
get confused by either it'll eject or drop the content of your device

i have read the discussion. i agreed with the point that if a program knows
what the user wants to do then it should do it. people who have used macs are
likely to try this two eject disk. its also useful for people with single
button mice (an accessibility thing?)
personally i'd like this,
I think that's a decision which should be taken upstream. It's really confusing
to have the same desktop (ie: GNOME) behaving differently on 2 different
computers you may have to use because some distro made a choice different from
upstream like that
