I'm using gdm on plain mode, is working well with our ltsp-4.2 clients,
so I'm not testing anything else, but I have some ideas:
Have you test with xdm or wdm?
The ubuntu ltsp project use ldm for remote login over ssh

El mar,
+1. I have the same problems.
Switching to KDM helps, but not 100%: even then XDMCP is not working as
smoothly as it was in Edgy.

Doing some tests here:
Running Gutsy on client and Dapper in server
with this command:
X :1 -query hostname_of_gutsy_machine_running_gdm
I could login in server but couldn't logout. Had to come back to terminal
(Gnome) and ctrl-C to finish the remote session.
This gave me some keyboard err.
@Heitor Mauricio: Confirm this, the same happens here.

I can leave all other options in gdm.conf untouched or change them, it is

But if I change to a console, I can start the XServer manually like Gustavo

I don't understand why the importance of this bug is kept low.

I use 14 thin clients to login via XDMCP on feisty. Since the update

connect fails. The login screen starts , you can see just the cursor,
and then restarts. Feisty was working very well with all clients ( even
cygwin ).

I don't know whether this helps, but it seems to be a problem with the 7.10

don't. SSH etc. works fine.
