J concur with Tarik's assessment that this only effects certain hardware. My laptop has an Ali soundcard (using the ALI_5451 driver) and exhibits this behavior. My desktop has a soundblaster live (uses the emu10k1 driver), and after I upgrade it to Gutsy this morning it does not suffer from this
