I have a similar problem.
1) Open rhythmbox.
2) Create a station for artist X.
3) Close Rhythmbox and open another last.fm client, such as last-exit.
4) In last-exit, play a station for artist Y.
5) Close last-exit then open rhythmbox.
6) Select the station for artists X from step 2, and click

Here it is. I deleted a lot of lines to trim it down from 16M - 188K,
but if you want the original I still have it. You can see I selected
Godspeed! You Black Emperor's radio station and then Juno Reactor's.
When I selected Juno's, it carried on playing songs from Godspeed's.
