2008-04-08 Thread Khashayar Naderehvandi
I'm just thinking: If this bug is not going to be fixed before Hardy is shipped, it might be a good idea to disable the dimming feature of gpm by default. New users will just be very confused when all of a sudden - sometimes with no obvious reason - the screen gets dimmed and won't come back up

Alright, I have now made sure that 04_brightness_events.patch causes this issue. Reverting that patch re-introduces some of the old problems, but at least squashes this bug. I'll see if I can attach my package, and you can see if it solves it for you guys as well. Next step, I guess, is to try to

I can confirm this bug on a Thinkpad T61 8889-2BG with Nvidia NVS 140 running Hardy Beta 64bit. The screen dims most of the time correctly when idle. However, brightness is not restored after movements of the mouse or pressing a key though it can be restored manually. Furthermore, sometimes the

My IBM T42 also dims when AC power is unplugged and then dims again when AC power is restored. When it hits the minimum setting, plugging in then brings brightness up one level. It's like it doesn't know the current setting, because if I max the brightness before plugging in it goes to the same,
