no it doesn't, the nosmooth image has several discontinuities and sharp
edges that the smooth doesn't have, the smooth one has an antialiasing
effect which you might dislike but it's smooth

Yes, it is going to be a bit fuzzy depending on size and potentially
subpixel hinting (you may want to play around with that on your

The smooth images when zoom option is enabled by default. With this option
zoomed pictures looks better but graphics are horrible with or without zoom. I
have to disable this option to get a good quality. Try by yourself to export a
graphic from Gnumeric or Openoffice
