I either have to be the owner of the floppy device (in the example above /dev/sdb) or I need to use sudo on the command line to be able to format. Now i have just tested sudo with gfloppy and here are my findings: Inserted disk Unmouted disk Opened gfloppy I was greeted with the following

I am able to mount/umount a floppy, but any time I try to format it with gfloppy I get the same error. ...when I select Formatting Mode Quick. I got an error that the disk was mounted. This tool should auto-unmount before formatting. After formating, the disk does not re-mount to the desktop.
