can you format it without using sudo on the command line?

I either have to be the owner of the floppy device (in the example above
/dev/sdb) or I need to use sudo on the command line to be able to
format.
Now i have just tested sudo with gfloppy and here are my findings:
Inserted disk
Unmouted disk
Opened gfloppy
I was greeted with the following

I attempted to answer this question, but the status is still marked as
invalid. I am changing this back to New.
I have just tested formatting a floppy (FAT/Ext2) with gfloppy on Jaunty
and it still fails with the error:
Could not determine current floppy geometry.
I am able to format the
I am able to mount/umount a floppy, but any time I try to format it with
gfloppy I get the same error.
...when I select Formatting Mode Quick. I got an error that the disk was
mounted. This tool should auto-unmount before formatting. After
formating, the disk does not re-mount to the desktop.
We are closing this bug report as it lacks the information, described in
the previous comments, we need to investigate the problem further.
However, please reopen it if you can give us the missing information and
don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future.

When you say command line tools which one are you referring to? Would
you like me to start gfloppy from the command line or would you like me
to use mformat, fdformat, or superformat

something else, does using the command line tools works correctly on the
same floppy or does it trigger errors?
