I did as Rafa Domenech suggested for the multiple copies of Okular which
all appeared to have the same command line options. However:
1) The brasero items all have different command line options (-i, -p, -l,
etc.) Are these somehow used by the OS?
2) If (1) is true, then could we give them
Solved on Bug #290846:
I've the solution:
1- Open the menu editor: SystemPreferencesMain Menu
2- Select graphics and delete all the unused brasero items

confirming, the nodisplay option is not used in this dialog because the
option is for menus and applications which are listed in the menus
should be listed there

It's still the same in quest / new created user session. It seems like
all of these .desktop files are displayed in that Open with... list,
even if the last four has NoDisplay=true set inside:
/usr/share/applications/brasero.desktop
/usr/share/applications/brasero-copy-medium.desktop
