Since Natty Narwhal is utter crap (it completely trashed my netbook on upgrade
+ I hated Unity after 5 minutes), I will be moving away from Ubuntu anyway. So
I couldn't care less that this bug is closed after 2 years of not looking into

Good point. I tried compiz and metacity, and this only seems to happen in
compiz.
I will add that I use the binary nvidia driver though I'm not convinced this is
the cause.
