Public bug reported: I noticed that with certain DVDs, I wouldn't hear any audio at all, or would hear a short burst of sound followed by silence. Often I could hear the audio on the DVD menu, but not during the feature. After some experimentation, I realized the problem was with 5.1 audio streams. DVDs with stereo audio work fine, while those with 5.1 audio exhibit this problem. My audio output setting in Totem is "Stereo".
Totem played these same discs correctly in 9.10, and VLC (with default pulseaudio output) still plays them fine in Lucid.
