Binary package hint: empathy

I was notified that my friend was online and I went to talk to him, but
then he asked how did I know that he was online, because his status was
set on "hidden". I checked my empathy contact list and contact was
"green" with status "Available". I then opened gmail and really he was
offline to me there just as it's supposed to be.

I looked for other occurrences of this bug but only found this thread ->
