Reading through the comments on the Opera blog this bug seems to be caused by Flash. So I tried blocking Flash and haven't experienced any crashes, yet. This seems to be related to a problem in libgtk2 2.24.6 and upgrading it to version 2.24.8 seems to fix the crashes. I'll try that and report
