The issue is still open. Set brightness level to less than maximim. Then
close laptop lid and then reopen. The brightness level is reset to max.
I have my display set to blank out when laptop lid is closed.

nobody is wanting to replace fstab, there is no only desktop users
running linux
to get a stacktrace you can attach gdb to process and see if that's
crashing, the issue there is that the mountpoint is not unmounter
between session, if you get crashes that's a different issue

Same thing happened for me: totem is uninterruptible, I have run a movie for
about 10 minutes or so, but what I did, was I was constantly searching (using
the mouse scroll wheel) for a specific part of the movie. After I've found it,
I watched it (for like 2 - 3 minutes or so), and then closed
I can confirm this on a Dell Precision M4300 (nVIDIA Quadro FX-360M with
nvidia-glx-new), up-to-date Hardy. Suspend/resume cycles work (many
times), but at ~90% of resumes I get a completely white screen. I can

or F-Spot, but F-Spot claims there are no applications available to open

[Hardy] I seem to have something similar on Hardy; at a clean boot I
have one icon but after a hibernate I *sometimes* pick up two; once it
decides to do that it will stay like that until a clean reboot.

Recent
I should have mentioned that both in Nautilus and Places Search for
files, I did select Look in folders: MY_BOOK. Still no search results,
though.
Also, Nautilus can browse and view the files on the USB HD without
problems. It's only the Search that does not work.

Hmm.. When using Places Search for files in MY_BOOK, I do get results
if I don't use wild cards, e.g. if I just search for Name contains: AVI
without the *. at the front. Not intuitive to people who are used to
wild cards for partial file names, but it does work. (I know, strictly

It works nearly perfectly in Feisty - the only flaw is that gnome-
volume-manager-gthumb runs whole gthumb, not just import photos
window.

Nautilus is not aware about gthumb photo importer

Kfind is not installed in Ubuntu by default (though it may be in Kubuntu). To
add Kfind to Ubuntu, got to System Administration Synaptic package manager
(enter administrative password) Search: kfind

When running find in a particular way there is an error reading the
~/.gvfs directory and find bombs.
sudo find / -name '.*something.*'
produces:
find: /home/myboxoftricks/.gvfs: Permission denied

I confirm this bug on Hardy.
Pedro's solution worked for me too, but I see no reason why this option
isn't available in the Screensaver or power-management dialog.
(That said, I still don't know why the gnome-screensaver-preferences
dialog doesn't offer all the extensive settings available in
