I just enabled the proposed repository and updated ONLY Jockey (jockey-
common and jockey-gtk) as there was no update available for gnome-
control-center.
Thus, I can confirm the update solved the issue in Jockey (it doesn't

First symptom was recently downloaded pdf files showing the orange clock
on the file icon. The pdf files open correctly in evince and adobe

I am using Gnome, so as i read above i did not enable apport.
Probably the break comes from running gedit with sudo, but the weird
part is that there is no .crash file in /var/crashes and when i rename
the directory and remove the quote everything works fine.

I figured out what happened. It appears that I some how pressed the J
while hovering over New Window, where the menu was open under File
New Window. It appears that if you press anything while being above that
command it will change the function. I did not realize that it was
changing the command

and it worked!

I have opened Bug 306319 to track the defect reported by myself, iram
and others related to gnome-screensaver-dialog not coming back after a
resume, even after this particular defect was fixed.

According to gEdit's lead developer, pbor, gEdit was ported from gnome-
vfs to gio/gvfs in 2008/08 [1] meaning that gEdit 2.24 lost its
dependency on gnome-vfs and thus, bad FTP support.
FTP is currently disabled due to bad support via gnome-vfs,
