If I open a file directly from gedit, it will open fine. Ie:
Open gedit.. Open file.. Select FTP server.. Select File... The file shows up
correctly.
But, if I open a file from nautilus, I get a problem. Steps to reproduce:
Open FTP share in nautilus.
Right click on a text file and select open
Installing Ubuntu's supported ATI driver fixes the problem.
Can verify that with the supported ATI driver installed,
xserver-xorg-d 6.5.7.3-0ubunt X.Org X server -- ATI display driver,
that matrixview and other rss-glx screensavers run much faster, not
quite as fast as fglrx with
fixed upstream, what about in ubuntu ?

sorry for being slow but 10 days is really not long according to the
numbers of bugs reported and the number of people working on them, we
get hundreds of bug mails for desktop package every week, there is few
people working on them and we are all really busy
