From the discussion on the Red Hat bug we decided that this bug should
probably be fixed in either dbus (preferably) or gnome-vfs. But until
that happens, it's pretty easy to patch Gaim to avoid the crash. We've
posted a patch for v2_0_0beta3 as well as a patch against the v2_0_0
branch of SVN
Fixed with new release of Firefox - now in ubuntu edgy repository. At
least, it fixed the problem for me.

Some additional data.
Changing the theme from ubuntu to standard in gconf (/apps
/notification-daemon/theme) has no effect. So it seems to be not theme
releated.
The crash is actually a Gtk-Crtitical warning that causes the daemon to

devhelp ships a gedit plugin which allows to search the current word in devhelp.
The plugin doesn't seem to be properly installed by the package.
Looking at the installed files by the devhelp package you see:

in the comments (I have menu-xdg installed).
When I strace -p the gnome-panel and switch workspaces I see lots of

file or directory)
Just tried in Edgy. It works a bit better, it's less blattant, but the bug is
definitely still there.
I haven't re-opened it though since upstream status is apparently
rejected, hence I guess they won't do anything about the problem.

An additional note:
When I have mounted the disk by double clicking on CDROM1 in Places-Computer
and then right-click on the disk icon on the desktop I have no option to eject
the disk only to unmount.
Clicking that unmounts the disk but the tray stays closed.

I can't reproduce this anymore on latest edgy with gst-plugins-good
0.10.4-0ubuntu1 and the latest gst-plugins-bad from edgy.
Please reopen if someone can still reproduce it

I can reproduce this here.
You can workaround it in istanbul by choosing a lower resolution. It is
caused by theoraenc beeing slow and ximagesrc beeing a live source.

I still see the same behaviour.
Since this bug seems difficult to solve, I've listed all the possibilities to
access the contents of a Mixed-Mode CD and their respective outcomes below:
(A) After insertion, choose the desired method to open the CD:
Expected result: Open Sound Juicer or Nautilus
Rhythmbox is checking for a CD in the drive, and on your system this
blocks for a few seconds.
I wonder why it isn't using HAL for this...

I still see this behaviour once every few weeks, usually only with
gnome-terminal nowadays. I'm content to write it off as gremlins at
this point as it is no longer interfering with my workflow.
