Not a poppler problem even, it works fine here using poppler 0.9.3 and freetype
from development version, but fails with poppler 0.9.3 and freetype 2.3.7
(latest stable version), so when freetype releases a new version the pdf will
render correctly.

I can confirm this using f-spot 0.4.4-1ubuntu4. I did not experience a
true crash though. For me, F-Spot immediately started to slow down

I can confirm this in GIMP, but not with pdfimages in Gutsy. pdfimage
does not produce inverted pdms using the pdfimages file x
poppler-utils: 0.6-0ubuntu2.1
