The order of the icons displayed depends on the startup sequence of programs
that display an icon.
It would be easier, if the icons would maintain the order.
Possible solutions:

I was trying to get DBUS signals, when the network status (online / offline)
changes. So far NetworkManager did report everything (got the signals using a
python script) and pidgin + firefox went into offline mode. Evolution simply
didn't

When I put my notebook into suspend mode with evolution started, it
sometimes happens that after wakeup evolution completely uses one of my
CPU cores on his own.
