I'm reopening this bug, as I can also confirm this bug on Ubuntu 8.04 „Hardy“.
This bug can be confirmed in both modes:
1. Run Gedit, choose File-Open Location (CTRL+L) and write ftp address of the
file you wanna open (eg. ftp://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/incoming/intel_xv_attr.diff
