I just got it with VLC. I have insufficient disk space to load gnome
debugging symbols.
I recommend compiling with the
-ggdb1
compiler flag. That puts in enough symbol information for a backtrace.
I recommend compiling all GCC compiled software with debugging symbols until
completion of beta

Yes, it reproduces consistently, whether the X Server is started by GDM or
xinit. The following 1 line .xinitrc reproduces it:
exec /usr/bin/gnome-session --sync
The exec and --sync are surely superfluous.
netstat -anp
after booting shows no port being occupied by a settings daemon; yet
tail
Since it seems to me usually desirable that the .xsession-errors recieve
endless Warning entries about something that is not an error, I will
convert this entry to 'Wish List'. Endless noise obscures true
problems.
Are other errors and messages related or separate? such as:

It seems i can not change Importance to Wish List, but only set
importance on new bugs i suppose. If some one else would change it to
Wish List, I would like that.
