Nope...my Acer 7730G is running like to be on AC no more dim on display
if i unplug AC cabel.
Fresh install i see...this is getting worse and worse from Ubuntu 8.04.

Gnome Power Manager doesn't show battery tab if accumulator isn't inserted

gnome-power-manager settings have no on battery tab
As a workaround, you can get the On Battery tab if you make it detect
your battery and then restart gnome power manager.
To make it detect your battery when you have booted using battery power,
you need to connect the laptop to AC power. If you have booted from AC
power, I guess unplugging the AC
