Summarizing, to fix sound distortion it's necessary to apply two fixes, one for
alsa and other for pulseaudio.
Pulse config change retains after reboot and possibly survives pulseaudio
package upgrade(s).
Alsa need mute fix to be re-applied after reboot, and it can be done
automatically. Add

a message which is never received. So far, I cannot find a theoretical
reason. But it's very complicated and I don't properly understand it

monitors at the same time from the motherboards' onboard graphics (2x
HDMI, 1x DVI). The CPU is an Intel 4570S with HD4600 graphics (also

Cefn, the problem is caused by moving the default utility for running
GUI applications as root from gksu to pkexec. Instead of installing gksu
