The desktop does not show up though gdm3 is running.
I see the following error messages which might indicate a dependency
issue:

should run debian/firefox.preinst which is responsible for installing
the snap.
The preinstall script depends on /run/snapd.socket existing. So when the
snapd service is stopped the snap will not be installed.
Would it be preferable to let
Debootstrap just installs a minimal number of packages, not the desktop
packages.

Without packages ubuntu-desktop, ubuntu-desktop-minimal it is
unnecessarily difficult to setup the Ubuntu desktop on systems like the
SiFive HiFive Unmatched.
All dependent packages are available.
We just need to add the riscv64 architecture in debian/control.
My problems only occur when running a KDE Wayland session, not with KDE
X11 sessions.

I have installed ubuntu-desktop on Ubuntu Lunar using a RISCV system
with Nvidia GT 710 as well as on a system with a Radeon 8450. In both
cases gdm3 does not show a dialog but a message "Oh no! Something has
gone wrong." Kinetic and Jammy work fine.

On my lapttop version 747 of the Firefox app is installed.
Whenever I try to launch /snap/bin/firefox I get a popup that Firefox is
already running.
ps -aux does not show any such process.
Rebooting and deleting lock files in ~/.mozilla does not solve the problem.

What do mean you by "import existing profile from the deb"? This was an
update from snap to snap that failed.
I have deleted the old snap and changed profile.ini to point to my old
profile to solve my problem locally.
But you should still check why the snap to snap update fails.

RISC-V.
