@Alberto: I use a Samsung NC20 Netbook with a Via Nano Processor and the VX800 chipset. I am using it with several 32 bit Kubuntu releases since 2009. I had the regression described in this thread, that's the reason why I created and use the package in my PPA. But with that, everything runs fine

Dear Alberto, from your logs, it seems that the package in my PPA at least improved the situation, and X does not crash anymore when loading the openchrome driver. But it seems you have an additional problem to the one that was solved in the package in my PPA. I recognized that you use a 64 Bit
