I found the issue, I had this installed from the Dell repo for 20.04 LTS:
libfprint-2-tod1-goodix
more specifically:
libfprint-2-tod1-goodix_0.0.6-0ubuntu1_somerville1_amd64.deb
This worked great with 20.04 and the fprintd version in there, but apparently
it breaks the current version.

I seem to have a similar issue with my HP ENVY 5544.
After removing ippusbxd and stopping the related service, my printer still does
not print.
Dmesg shows this every time I press the test page button in either HP tools or
Printers (GNOME GUI):

Nano is not a gui desktop editor. Besides that vim is superior to nano in
my opinion. A viable alternative would be an open source editor like Atom,
but it can be useful to have a lightweight simple editor that doesn't blow
up with a big file and is installed by default.
