I have confirmed it works in Firefox v 17 on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit.
Here is an example of the working launcher code:
[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Icon[en_US]=/home/dngrsone/.icons/Daily.gif
Name[en_US]=Daily
Exec=firefox -no-remote --class Daily -P
Firefox always had a --class option to set WM_CLASS, because it's a standard
GTK+ option. It was broken in Firefox at some point, but it was fixed:

I tested the --class option on Firefox 16 and it works. The Unity
launcher correctly switches
I just ran into this problem, I think. Except in my case, other
launchers would take ownership of the main Firefox profile window. My
problem was solved by adding the following line to
usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop. All my other custom firefox
profile launchers already contained this

I think that's something that should be fixed in firefox itself, it
should allow to define a flag to set the windows WM_CLASS or should use
the profile name as the instance name...

Unfortunately firefox doesn't seem to support any command line to set
the WM_CLASS, so until you can't do it, BAMF (and unity) wouldn't be
able to consider these two windows as different applications
