Thanks a million @Jarosław Rafa (raj001): Although interestingly
indicator-applet-appmenu was not active in my panel, uninstalling
indicator-appmenu via package manager and logging out and back in solved
the problem for me.
This is with Ubuntu 20.04 with mate.

Any update on that? I've been encountering the issue on different

Update: looks like the return of this problem is being triggered by
Ubuntu Updater of Dec 17 give or take a few days. That update includes
AppIndicator/KStatusNotifierItem support for Gnome Shell, common files
for Gnome desktop apps, crash reporting, input device management and
event handling
Problem affecting LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 with Thunderbird 68.10.0 as well
on Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.1. This is pretty basic functionality, I'm
surprised it's broken on Linux yet works fine on Windows.

I received two small PDF documents. I clicked "decrypt and save as", but on my
filesystem the files have only few bytes. Nothing appears in the error console.
I have successfully checked decrypting the pgp-files
Same for me.
Seems something related to Chrome or Chromium.
The bug was also present in older versions of the driver.
Sometimes garbage disappers closing Chrome/Chromium and reopening soon after.

Dependency on bug 228673 and on bug 322270 deleted. This bug here gave
an interim fix which was overcome by the one in 322270.
Discussion here circled for more than 4 years around the MSIE vs. Web
standards compatibility. During that time new standards arose which made
an agreement not easier.
Thanks a lot @Coiby Xu (coiby), amazing work. Let's hope the third patch
will be backported and 20.04.x LTS will work our the box after this.

I was able to change the driver directly through gnome-control-center dialog vs
the system-control-printer dialog. Not sure if you have this option under
Linux Mint or not, but this is what I did:
Open gnome control center, go to printers and select the printer of interest,
click the gear

the Nextcloud client, too but it already is in the startup applications
