I'm happy with the current design. It builds on top of the existing StopWatch, giving users the ability to have multiple children timing watchers (see Javadocs in PR or this silly example https://gist.github.com/kinow/c0873daf069c2e64bc69d6305400e610). Otto has been patient with the review, and this could be used in Apache Metron if his PR gets accepted there as well after the code is updated (https://github.com/apache/metron/pull/873). Would be nice to get more people to review the new code too. I'm planning to merge it by the weekend if there are no reviews / objections.
