Just on inspection, these seems to *really* gobble up memory.
And the patch touches a LOT of core code, in both httpd and apr,
so that's making me wary.

hostname (or even (vhost) ServerName for virtual hosts be a nice default
path (and of course give a configureable widgit for anyone who does not
want to use a default.

apr and apr-util using svn and I was a bit surprised when it suggested
.../branches/1.3.x for apr-util
Are there compatibility issues I am not aware of as I had always been using
the 1.4.x apr-util before.
