The "Why" page is important and shouldn't be discarded.
The advantages over MS Office are obvious...
It is far less obvious how AOO is currently better than LO / Gnome Office /
Calligra Suite.
The references to scientific papers in Gnumeric home page are a good
example for a convincing "Why" page.
Agree with Rob and Andrea that the pages serve a purpose.
My reason for filing the original bug was simply that during translation into

I saw several pages were outdated, talking about MSO 2003 EOL etc.
