My gut feeling would be to try something like this: open a changeset, then do 40 individual diff uploads of about 1,000 elements each, then close the changeset, and repeat. Thanks for the explanation, I'll try this approach Bye, Stefano ___ dev

HI Guys, we followed Mr Richard articles step by step, we only skipped that one: ./bin/osmosis --read-xml /home/username/planet-090311.osm.gz --bounding-box left=-94 bottom=38 right=-71.5 top=50 --write-xml /home/username/GreatLakes.osm.gz and we do that one: time ./osm2pgsql --slim -d gis
