I'm getting a NPE in the embeddedJsp plugin.
It seems to originate from JSPLoader.getJarURL(clazz) at URL loc =
codeSource.getLocation() because codeSource is null.
(protectionDomain.getCodeSource() returns null).
Not sure why this is happening for me (it is occurring when clazz =

Martin,
You are missing what I am saying. If you look in the pom for
xwork-core, there is a configuration for the 'maven-shade-plugin.'
This configuration sort of 'steals' those classes from commons-lang
and puts them into xwork-core's jar file. It also changes the package
on the class so that
hum, that's pretty much the only way of getting the list of jars, that

I noticed a few interesting things -
The Tiles / Freemarker example in the past used to throw a nasty
exception, but now it appears to be working -
http://struts.zones.apache.org/tomcat-5-5-27-java6-struts2-showcase/tiles/freemarkerLayout.action
I don't remember any svn commits related

I think that's up in the air... I'm a 'one thing at a time' kind of
guy, so I'm just wanting to get a GA release for 2.1, there are over
100 bugfixes that have been done but not released since 2.1.6. So,
personally, I'll worry about 2.2 / 2.1 after we get the next release
out.

Frans, the best place to look is the 'Release Notes'
You can get to them here -
http://cwiki.apache.org/WW/version-notes-218.html
There is a brief summary of the 'new' things.
Here is a link on that page to see everything that has been fixed
since 2.1.6...
thx ;)

I find that using parameters in urls is confusing in struts, and there
are just too many (and not compatible) ways of doing it, for example,
if you want to have parameters in front of the action name, like
/something/param1/param2/ActionName
you would have to use the namedVariable action mapper,

This build includes commons-logging-1.0.4 and commons-digester-2.0.
Digester 2.0 (while it says It is also possible to use Logging 1.0.x)
has commons-logging-1.1.1 as a recommended dependency.
(and commons-logging-api-1.1, which presumably should also be
commons-logging-api-1.1.1)

meh, this one didn't put up much of a fight :). With these set
(regex alternative implementation of patternMatcher):
constant name=struts.enable.SlashesInActionNames value=true/
constant name=struts.mapper.alwaysSelectFullNamespace value=false/
constant name=struts.patternMatcher value=regex /
Be careful overriding the pattern matcher. I use it in xwork to
include files in the xml configuration provider.

Careful with that axe Eugene
The only change in xwork would be in
AbstractMatcher:replaceParameters, because that method gets the params
defined in the action mapping (param name=name{1}/param), and
replaces it with the value extracted from the URL. My change is to
also include additional params,

Very useful feature! It's SEO friendly and reduces/eliminates using of
UrlRewriteFilter.
Is this code correct?:
@Results({
@Result(
name = Action.SUCCESS,
location = {2}.jsp

class TestAction {

my opinion
the /url/url/param/param is REST right, we need use convention
and the package is the old model
how can it run in the your dev envionment?

Go ahead and post in our JIRA, we are talking of moving xwork over here for
struts2.
I have posted issue here:
Allow LoggerUtils.format to support unlimited number of args
http://jira.opensymphony.com/browse/XW-726
Do I need to repost it to Struts2 JIRA?

Wes suggested that we should make a new showcase app, and I think it
is a great idea. Things I have in mind:
* CRUD sample with spring
* Spring security
* Sitemesh
* Tiles
* Convention samples
* Results samples, FreeMarker, Velocity, JSON, Embedded JSP
* OGNL interactive thing (ok, ok..maybe not
I figured out the problem. Somehow (don't ask), servlet-api.jar ended up in
my Tomcat endorsed folder. Removing it fixed the problem. It still seems
that assuming protectionDomain.getCodeSource() will return a non-null value
is dangerous though.
