Hi. I've been testing 4.3.99.901 and current HEAD a bit for an "embedded" thing I'm working on. And I've noticed something strange: When using the vesa driver, the server doesn't completely reset the graphics adapter on server exit, no text is visible on the screen until after a VT switch. This is under Linux 2.4.23 on x86.
This isn't generally the case for other drivers (at least none that I've found), and I've found this behaviour on both machines I've tried so far (one Via CLE266 and one Matrox Mystique). I guess running the Xserver on the same VT as it is launched from (which prevents the implicit vt-switch on exit) isn't all that common. (I'll try to get some more data on this during the weekend, just thought I'd give a heads-up in case someone remembered making this change on purpose. :) -Harald -- Harald Nordgård-Hansen, Linpro AS, Wilbergjordet 1, NO-1605 Fredrikstad, Norway Phone/Fax: +47 6935 9255/56 <>< http://harald.nordgard-hansen.net/ _______________________________________________ Devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/devel
