Dia over gimp. gimp over dia.
To start, simply make dia able to access one/many of the gimp's layers.

I'm assuming you're running an installed version of Dia. Install GDB, if
it's not already there, then do

I took it through GDB, and it turned out that the problem was the empty
descriptions in the sheet. Fill something in the description area, and
it is ok. CVS Dia doesn't crash on that. Oh,
