I have a stock Yaesu FT-817ND that I am using with great results on
40 meters with PSK-31 and Olivia 16/500. I wonder if adding the 500 Hz
CW filter would be useful? Any experiences along this line??

I can't speak about Yaesu at all, since I use an Icom 746, but have been
using 250 Hz and 500 Hz filters on PSK for quite a while, and wouldn't be
without them! Most of the time I use the 250 Hz. It is narrow enough to
keep out a lot of QRM, but still wide enough to get a good copy on a weak
Paul,
It may help on PSK-31.
Olivia can use a bandwidth wider than the filter. MT-63 and other modes
can also.
For this reason, I would look at how much I used the narrow bandwidth
modes and make your decision accordingly.
To slow Olivia down to 250Hz BW needs to be considered in terms
I have to agree with Dave 100% (of course, us 3 calls do have to stick
together!).
I have a 706 with the 350 Hz CW filter. The neat thing about some radios (not
sure about your Yaesu) is you can install the CW filter, but tell the radio it
is a SSB filter. Otherwise it will not work
Hello Russel and Rick,
I confirm: RX/TX in Packet + Kiss interface + part of the TCP/IP interface
are not limited when APRS and Packet digipeaters (+ the responder + other
part of the TCP/IP interface) are submitted to a licence.
You must push the Unproto button to TX in APRS or to connect in
Thanks Patrick thats what is was,

Ok, I seem to be doing PSK-31 to Olivia 16/500 about 10:1 at this
point. The narrow (300 Hz) filter would seem to be the better bet for
me. Cut it out for Olivia, and use it to fish PSK-31 signals out of
the mud, and for CW work. There is a mod (expensive) to allow for 2
additional filters in the
Rick,
You have a point. I did not stop to think about the possibility of
multicast fills.

Hi Jose,
The advantage of using manual ARQ fills after the transmission of the
