My personal favorite for home VHF/UHF Packet is Flex32 with the excellent
PAXON terminal.
There are step-by-step tutorials for both of these programs at USPacket.Org,
featuring a screen shots for each step involved in installation and setup.
These tutorials are very popular, I had to purchase
I tend to agree with Charles in regard to a packet-only setup;
Flex32/Paxon is pretty slick.
MultiPSK in packet mode is more than just a terminal program; it needs
no external driver and does APRS, digipeats and mail (and probably
more). It is abit of a learning curve after using a more

Thanks for the tip Andy,seems like the hardest part is just getting
the physical connection to the Icom established.The FL-Digi sounds
good,did some reading on W1HKJ's website,but will have to get a Linux
PC up and running to take full advantage of that software I believe.

-I find Multipsk for packet with a soundcard much easier than AGW.
For PSK Winwarbler, DM780, MUltipsk and others will work well, for
PSK250 though you may need FL-DIGI or MixW.
I'm not sure about the hook-up for your radio but I agree, the data
jack is better than the MIC jack, usually.
