Hi That macro was required, if for some reason, when the template had been changed, you elected to not update the document on opening. The option to update was not offered when opening the document again and in order to then update to the changed template, you needed to run the macro.

Hi again. I've had an almost instant resolution to this bug report from Eike Rathke, who I believe is one of the chief developers with regards to Calc. He responds; Applying a cell format NEVER changes existing cell content. On purpose. He classes it as 'Resolved' and 'Not A Bug'. So here's
