RE: [DQSD-Users] bug with ac

2002-09-20 Thread MLL

Hi Tom,

Experienced the same in the past with Gozilla. This isn't linked to DQSD. Try to cut'n
paste the URL you provided to IE's address field, you should see FreshDownload act the
same. It kinda brainlessly pops up because it believes you're downloading an exe,
while it's a server-side app that just queries a database and makes an html file with
the results.

You should either disable FreshDownload or have a look at it options, looking for some
exception list to which you could add .EXEs, or all stuff from getzips.com.

HTH,

MLL

I tried
 ac 770
This page _tried_ to open in my browser
 http://www.getzips.com/CGI-BIN/ziplook.exe?What=4Area=770
and my download manager (FreshDownload) popped up looking to save ziplook.exe.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Cheers - Tom.

RE: [DQSD-Users] DQSD with Crazy Browser

2002-09-20 Thread MLL

Thanks Paul for the tip - Crazybrowser seems very convenient. I'm using it as my
delfault browser now.

I'm on the very same setup as you (W2K SP3, IE6 SP1), and got to have DQSD work with
it. First, do what Gelnn's URL says to have CB as default browser. Second, put the
following line into DQSD's localprefs.js :

launchmode=1;

It does the job for me

 Paul,

I'm guessing that IE has made itself the default browser
 again. It looks
like there's an option in CB
 (http://www.crazybrowser.com/faq.htm) to reset
it as the default browser. If that doesn't work, Monty
 posted a message not
to long ago about setting/checking your default browser
 settings that you
 might check out.

 Glenn

  I recently installed SP1 for MSIE6 (W2K SP3) and DQSD no
 longer sees Crazy
  Browser as the default (Crazy Browser is an add-on for IE;
 tabbed windows
like Mozilla, popup supression, etc.). Prior to the SP1
 installation but
after the SP3, all was fine. is there some kind of change in the
  IE service
pack that might have caused this?

Re: [DQSD-Users] Unable to run on WIN NT

2002-09-20 Thread David Bau

Here's a tip (found by Jeff Winkler) for getting ActiveDesktop enabled on
NT, without having to find an Internet Explorer 4.0 installer:

http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBG/TIP3200/rh3235.htm

Haven't tried it, but it may work for you.

Hi Mohammed,

You're right, Windows NT4 can not add customized toolbars to its taskbar,
unless you installed the Desktop update together with Internet Explorer
*4* ! Since then, Microsoft didn't include this option in later releases of
IE (for complex monopoly reasons I think).

RE: [DQSD-Users] DQSD with Crazy Browser

2002-09-20 Thread Monty Scroggins

how did you check the default browser? There are several areas where the
default browser needs to be set. filetype, protocol etc..Just to be
sure your browser is correctly set to the default, download and try this
little app -
http://www.pc-tools.net/files/win32/freeware/stbrws14.exe

just to be sure..
