Re: [DQSD-Users] Search related
Hi Steven, I want to be able to highlight text in my browser and then right click and search Wikipedia for the highlighted text. ... Any thoughts on how I can make the link to and search on Wikipedia as smooth as possible. The easiest way would be to change the default search in DQSD to wikipedia. Do this by editing localprefs.js to add this line: defaultsearch=wik; Reload DQSD (!). Now, instead of 'right-clicking', just highlight the text you want to search in Wikipedia, and drag and drop it into DQSD. It'll search in Wikipedia by default from then on. HOWEVER, this will ALSO set your default search action anytime you simply type text into the DQSD window to searching Wikipedia unless a different search is specified. To search google prefix the search text with gg: gg search text I hope that works for what you're after. Regards, Shawn K. Re: [DQSD-Users] Running from command line
Hi Tom, Is there a way to run something you would type in the search bar, eg, yy from the command line...passing it as a parameter or something? Sorry this is so late - I'm cleaning out the folder. ;) Is this question directed at running a command that you might run at a command prompt (dir c:\ c:\list.txt) within DQSD, or running something that you might run within DQSD at the command prompt (c:\ yy myaccount)? For the first, you can use run cmd.exe /k %s, or shorten it a bit more with an alias: run cmd.exe /k dir c:\ c:\list.txt Swap /k with /c if you don't want the command prompt to remain afterwards. For the other, uh, no - not yet. At least, not to my knowledge. Sounds like a good idea though. It could be accomplished with a script passed through cscript.exe. Regards, Shawn K. [DQSD-Users] DSQD and Vista, doesn't work
Hi, I just reinstalled Vista RC Build 5728 on my machine. Then I installed DQSD 4.0 with the vista theme.css fixes. Every time I do search from DQSD, it opens up the browser with 'D:\temp\DQSDLaunch.html' in the address bar and a blank page. I'm also using Avant browser. I've only tested this on XP, but it appears to work ok with Avante and IE. Installation... - Extract the files to some directory - Edit the .reg file and correct the path to the extracted .html file. I.e., if you extracted the files to C:\Documents and Settings\Glenn\My Documents\search_wikipedia.html, change the path in the .reg to C:\\Documents and Settings\\Glenn\\My Documents\\search_wikipedia.html - Double click the .reg file to make the changes in the registry. - You'll need to restart any open browser windows. - With Avante I had to create an popup exception rule for *wikipedia* windows. Anyway, it probably could be improved, but it seems to work pretty well.
