Nope, there's a launchmode variable, too, just below
reuseBrowserWindowMode in preferences.js.
You might want to check whether it's overridden in localprefs.js, but
in a default install it should have the value 1.

Launch mode = 1
Believe me I have installed 3 different version of DQSD, all with default
installation settings, all the same result.
It is a problem with DQSD/Vista, not with my system(s).
Seems to me that if DQSD can launch a Protected Mode
