[DQSD-Users] Re: Quick Question re: New Magnifying Glass Icon
MessageSteve, I turn it off too. Just go to the little menu and select configure local preferences. Then when notepad pops up, add the line bannerurl = ; after you save and close notepad, enter a single ! in the search box. It will reload itself without the little icon. However I don't like the new magnifying glass picture as it takes up desk bar real estate and it just takes you to http://www.dqsd.net/ when I click it. How do I turn it off? Re: [DQSD-Users] Unable to run on WIN NT
Here's a tip (found by Jeff Winkler) for getting ActiveDesktop enabled on NT, without having to find an Internet Explorer 4.0 installer: http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBG/TIP3200/rh3235.htm Haven't tried it, but it may work for you. Since then, Microsoft didn't include this option in later releases of IE (for complex monopoly reasons I think). [DQSD-Users] Version 3.1.3 (WAS: 3.1 win 98 horrible mess)
Tim, Jaqui, Linda, Henry, MLL, and others - Thanks very much for test driving the 3.1.1, 3.1.2, and 3.1.3 bugfix releases. Version 3.1.3, posted on http://dqsd.net/, should address the various scripting errors that we were seeing in version 3.1.0. David - Original Message - From: Tim To: David Bau Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 2:35 PM Subject: Re: [DQSD-Users] 3.1 win 98 horrible mess Version 3.1.3 worked! Thank you so much Dave. Tim - Original Message - From: David Bau To: Tim Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 9:22 AM Subject: Re: [DQSD-Users] 3.1 win 98 horrible mess Yes; I had a couple other testers validate 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 over the weekend. We've actually released 3.1.3 now that incorporates all their feedback. The changes are progressively more minor. David - Original Message - From: Tim To: David Bau Sent: Monday, September 09, 2002 11:13 AM Subject: Re: [DQSD-Users] 3.1 win 98 horrible mess Hi Dave, Thanks for your willingness to help me with this. First, do you want me to go to sourceforge for the download, or to http://notesbydave.com/toolbar/ ? If the latter, it seems you now have v.3.1.2 -- should I download that, rather than v.3.1.1? [DQSD-Users] Re: error message
Ronald - this is a known problem with some installations that we will be fixing in a new release to come out shortly. In the meantime, you can work around the problem by deleting c:\program files\quick search deskbar\search\dicit.xml and acine.xml as well. David - Original Message - From: Ronald Black To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, September 06, 2002 11:37 AM Subject: error message Dave: As a new user of your program I am very happy with the results. I only have one question; when ever Iboot-up my computer I get the same error message (twice) "Unable to load search from search\dicit.xml: switch from current encoder to specified encoder not supported". I am sure it is something I did and do not know what is I need to do to correct the problem. The program works well with on "hitches". Look forward to hearing from you. Re: [DQSD-Users] helpppppppppppppp
Howdy, all. I noticed the SF Chronicle review too. The SF Chronicle review is our first mainstream press review. Thanks to all the developers who have been contributing great stuff to dqsd, and extra-special thanks to Glenn Carr. DQSD is starting to go mainstream. Dolores - after you add the search bar, you will need to "drag" it out to the left so that you can see it. There should be a little handle to the left of the word "search" that lets you do this. If there isn't, you're probably on Windows XP, and you'll need to "Unlock the toolbar" before you can resize things. Happy searching, David - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, August 26, 2002 2:54 PM Subject: [DQSD-Users] helpp Dear Dave,i installed your program but cannot get it to my toolbar. i check "add quick search" and the word search appears, but it is useless, and when i check toolbars again, "search" is checked and "add quick search" is unchecked. ?i think i have windows 2000 - (I'm a dummy)i also tried yr alternate way of getting it on, but that didn't work either.your work was highly praised in today's SF chronicle, and you and it sound neat, so i'm hoping you can help me make it work.thank you, dolores heeb
[DQSD-Users] Fwd: Script errors w/search toolbar
Another report from Clint Hamilton... From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Clint Hamilton [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Script errors w/search toolbar Date: Thu, 16 May 2002 01:53:57 -0500 Hello, I installed your search toolbar and keep getting a script error for it, (see attached screen shot). Sometimes the error will be line 390. Regardless of choosing yes or no, nothing happens afterward. OS is win98, IE 5.01 SP2. I think it would be a great idea to enable 'auto complete' on the toolbar.
