Leaves something to be interpreted..Is it to flicker slightly on voice peaks or
come on full and fade away when finished speaking?? .
I have had success with the rig on SSB
I would adjust the gain so that the LED just flickers on voice peaks.
There's a common modification for the ALC board that changes how the LED
responds and you may not know if that mod is installed or not.

The green LED is a function of the ALC. The LED will light on voice peaks
when the ALC kicks in and limits power output of the PA section. This is
typically 110 to 150 watts depending on the band. Your antenna impedance will
