Hi all, I just bought my first T-4XC transmitter yesterday and
should have it in a week or so. It is a late serial number so I am
hoping I won't need to do to much to it. I was just wondering how much
of a problem it would be to change out the finals and install two 572B's
or maybe better yet two 4-1000A's, just kidding. I am thinking about
the swap to the 6146W's maybe down the road. I did contact Frank Kamp,
K5DKZ about his kit to convert the Drakes to the 6146W's and he said
they work great in the T-4XC. I already have the R-4C, now I just need
to locate a late serial number AC-4 power supply to go with the T-4XC.
Those AC-4's cost as much or more to ship then to buy. Oh, and then
there is my list of kits I want to buy from Sherwood Engineering and the
new filters from International Radio. Oh well, one thing at a time, I
got to save up some more money. I am looking forward to getting my
Drake station all put together and on the air. What a great hobby and
with this great Drake list I have had lots of help along the way.
Thanks guys for everything.

Hi all,
Wondering someone knows someone that can repair my Drake R-4B. Yea, I know... however,
I'm about to head out to sea and really don't have the time to spend doing it myself
right now. Please let me know is does a great job and can do it for me.
Best Regards to all,

[drakelist] TR5 low mic sensitivity

2004-08-03 Thread James E. Lanier

My TR5 has low mic sensitivity. I have to turn vox
gain up all the way and it is still not enough gain to use vox. My mic gain is
typically set at 3 to 5 oclock normally. Anyone else had this problem? I have
not statred trouble shooting yet, but I suspect the preamp (Q405) FET. It is
common to both the VOX and the Mic amp.
