I would like to hear from those of you who have
used both. What are your opinions?
1) Electrical Performance Comparisons
2) Mechanical performance (PTO tuning
etc.)
Thanks,

I was going to try to check in, but conditions were not favorable. All
drake-net stations heard were very weak, and I had lots of adjacent sigs at
40+db
I would like to sell my TR5 and PS75 . Both are
very nice with little use and have been in storage for some 18-20 years. I have
been using them the last 3 months and all is well. I would rather not e-bay. If
you are interested, please e-mail me and I will answer any questions you
may may
I first stripped away that disgusting sticky
paint!
I heated the cabinet in the oven at about 220F. I
then applied brown primer spray. The primer boils on contact causing a rough
surface. I let the primer dry. I then applied alternating very light coats of
gray then black textured paint
I have had a few e-mails concerning
this
I removed the sticky paint with Methyl Ethyl
Ketone, brush, cloths andsandpaper.
The primer is Rustoleum 1967 Red Primer
The Paint:
Black Rustoleum 7220
Dark Pewter Rustoleum 7221
Good Luck!

Not sure, I purchased an ms7 to match my TR5 and
the ms7had the sticky paint. My TR5 is the gray/black. The sticky paint
ms7 was darker... before I made it match my TR5.
Maybe the early tr7s were using the bad paint. I
think there is a website that describes the differences between the early
Thanks to those who replied. It turns out that the
VOX circuit is weak on ALL these transceivers. The TR7 has the same problem. I
found modification posts on the www. for that vox circuit. (Although, the
published mod is NOT the way I would do it.) I ran PSPICE simulations on the VOX
My TR5 has low mic sensitivity. I have to turn vox
gain up all the way and it is still not enough gain to use vox. My mic gain is
typically set at 3 to 5 oclock normally. Anyone else had this problem? I have
not statred trouble shooting yet, but I suspect the preamp (Q405) FET. It is
common
