I'm using Debian Unstable (Xfree 4.3.0.1-2, I attached
the Xfree86.0.log file) on a compaq evo n1015v
and I installed latest binary snapshot (2004-03-03 + XFreee86
executable).
Finally now 3D acceleration works and I'm happy
for that but there are some issues I have to point out:
1) if I load

I sent you this file just to show my hardware and settings...
with dri binaries installed I had in Xfree86.0.log
a line like this:

what directories should I backup to restore the original xfree86 files
if the dri binaries won't work?
making a backup copy of /usr/X11R6/ and /etc/X11
is enough?

actually I compiled dri sources from CVS and I installed them.
Synaptics driver now does not cause problems any more
but two problems persist:
1) text in open gl application is corrupted
2) I get only 200 fps (though glxinfo says dri is enabled)

For those of you messing with XvMC support on savage, I just checked in
a fix for the missing extension problem. I had forgotten to port over
the setup code from S3's driver. I tested it briefly on savage4, but I
only got an blue window. It's possible that the XvMC stuff is
