Hi all,
Is it possible to add a bit more metadata for an item's bitstream,
beyond the usual filename | size | format? I'm thinking especially
of including a title for the bitstream. I will have cases where the
item
contains a dozen or even hundreds of bitstreams and, unless the file

Thanks for the mail.
I am sorry The problem is that it shows the eperson being already registered,
but the eperson cannot log in.
So if I give I forgot password I get the said error.
As for the page source I have the following line:

Hi all:
I am importing more than one file per item using the [dspace]/bin/import
tool.
I wonder how can I set one of them as primary bitstream. I know that it can
be done using the UI, but I rather prefer use some automatic procedure.
Does anyone know how to set it?
Thanks in advance,
Álvaro
Tomcat's own logs may contain more information about the error. Their
names and paths depend on how you installed and configured Tomcat, but
generally they are named 'catalina.log' and 'catalina.out' or
something similar.

Hello,
I am trying to install DSpace onto a Windows 2003 server. However, I cannot
get the Postgres service to start. Event viewer says \could not open process

Hi
I have published in my DSpace install blog information on installing DSpace
1.5.2 on CentOS 5.3 and getting DSpace/AD authentication working:

Now I am starting to wonder if anyone managed to get more than one special

We are running Postgresql 8.2 amd Tomcat 6, and have noticed that
Dspace 1.5.1 arrives with postgresql-8.1-408.jdbc3.jar.
I believe this may have caused some of my indexing (search) problems,
and wondered how to replace

I must have had a brain freeze, I meant to say Java6 and Postgresql

the mix. It must have been the 6s. Can't wait for Postgresql 8.6 to
arrive. Oi!

Hi,
Our library has a Koha catalogue for print items and a Dspace repository
for PDFs, and we're trying to make both searchable through an
Aquabrowser discovery layer. We've run into a problem with exposing the
URLs of the PDF bitstreams to the discovery layer so that they can be

I wanted to activate the item counter in the xmlui interface and, although the
dspace.cfg file claims that the webui.strengths parameters don't apply to the
xmlui interface I found a post that suggested otherwise.
So, I set show and chache to true and the counts appeared;
however, I then

I restarted Tomcat and all the counts are accurate now.
It's still not clear to me whether I'll have to run ItemCounter to keep the
cache up-to-date but I guess I'll find out.

Hi Álvaro,
At present the import command does not support this. I have registered this as
a feature request in our issue tracking software JIRA
(http://jira.dspace.org/). Hopefully this issue can be addressed soon.

Hi Wayne,
The xmlui ignores the webui.strengths.show setting in dspace.cfg and delegates
the decision whether or not to show the strengths to the theme that you are
using. In the latest version of Dspace, the default theme is enabled to show
the strengths.

Hi Clive,
The code you need to write will either need to go in the
getSppecialGroups method, or in the authenticate method.
Ideally it would go in the former, but it depends on whether you can
derive the group you need to add the user to from their EPerson details.
For example if you can

I started a mvn clean package on our production instance of DSpace. As
it ran, I noticed that it was downloading certain pieces of information
relating to DSpace 1.5.2. Naturally, I panicked and killed the job.
There was a dspace-api-lang-1.5.2.1.pom and
Hi Dillon,
Can Aquabrowser accept METS via OAI-PMH? METS is supported out of the
box with Dspace + OAI-PMH, and contains a fileGrp containing all of the
links to the PDF bitstreams.

I'm trying to determine the disk space requirements for a new DSpace
installation and I want to know if anybody can tell me what the size of the
postgresql database would be for say every 10,000 items ingested, with an
average (whatever that really equates to) amount of metadata. I want the

Don't be alarmed, this is intended behavior with the language packs.
Likewise, until you run ant update nothing you do in maven will have
been pushed into your installation.
Language packs are version ranged [1.5.0,1.6.0) so that as they are
