I assume it is a built in feature that prevents spam, but the feedback
page cannot be accessed directly, you need to reach it from a link on
your site. It checks the referrer header.
I disabled that check in my code by changing SendFeedbackaction.java

Did you restart Tomcat after your config changes ? I found that using
iptables to redirect port 80 to port 8082 worked much easier.
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port
8082
iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p tcp --dport 443 -j REDIRECT --to-port
8443
When I try to view an item that is restricted, I get this error. The
problem is that the message is doubled. I looked in Restricted.java but
seen nothing wrong there. Can anyone provide some insight to where this
error might be occurring?
I'm running dspace 3.0 with Mirage and xmlui.
Try
service tomcat restart
from the command line. It all depends on how you installed it, this
might work for you. I usually have to restart tomcat twice after I build
dspace to get it to come up.

the link to a bitstream. It gives me the handle_id and the filename.
I've been through all the postgress tables, but I can't find the
connection to give me the bitstream_id. Which table links the bitstream
