Hi All
I am trying to install maven2 and ant on solaris as dspace
prerequisites softwares, I am better with ubuntu so with solaris I will
have to learn as I go, I need advice from anyone as to what steps I can
follow to do this manually.

Both Maven and Ant come pre-compiled when you download them.
All you should need to do is visit their websites (see below) to
download the appropriate zip/gzip file. Just unzip the contents to the
location where you want to install them -- they should then be
immediately usable.
