All, The DSpace Committers have decided to extend the DSpace 1.7.0 Testathon until Friday, November 19.
Although we've already had a good amount of testing this week, we feel some technical problems at the beginning of the week limited the amount of extensive testing we were able to perform. So, we ask you to join us in another round of DSpace 1.7.0 testing! == Why Should You Help Test? == Everyone (managers, developers, users) is encouraged to take a few minutes out of your week to help us with testing of DSpace 1.7.0. Testathon is what helps us to ensure the software is as useful & bug-free as possible! We've made it even easier to help test this year! The DSpace Demo Site (http://demo.dspace.org) has seen several improvements to help make testing & reporting even easier: * Pre-created User Accounts. We now have pre-created logins for various types of demo users which are posted on the homepage of the XMLUI and JSPUI demo sites. So, you don't even need to create your own account! * A Built-in Feedback Mechanism. All you need to do is click on the red "Feedback" button (on the left side of any page) to report anything odd you are experiencing or seeing. We'll take care of the rest! You are still welcome to report issues directly in our JIRA issue tracker (https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS). But, for those looking to save time, you can just use this new, easier feedback mechanism. == How Can You Help Test? == There are three main ways you can help to test DSpace 1.7.0: (1) Visit http://demo.dspace.org and test one or more of the DSpace interfaces. Again, you can use the red "Feedback" button to report your issues or just send kudos to the development team. (2) We've now put our DSpace 1.7.0 Documentation up on a new area of our Wiki. If you are a stickler for good documentation, we'd really appreciate your feedback on how we are doing so far: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC/DSpace+Documentation (As a sidenote, if you'd like to help improve the Documentation, please get in touch. We specifically moved it to the Wiki to allow for others, technical or non-technical, to help us improve upon the existing documentation.) (3) If you wish, you can also download the 1.7.0 Release Candidate #1 software from either SourceForge or SVN (see links below), and install it on your own local test server.
